Faith According to a Student

Once in a classroom discussion, my teacher asked, ‘What is the difference between fate and destiny?’ Our instructor smiled at every answer. Then out of nowhere, one of my classmate answered, ‘Fate is something that you are not responsible of; there is an entity who pursues that for you. Destiny is something you are working on and something that the entity tries to help you with.’ I realized that my classmate is referring to God as the entity. Well, that’s a great thing to know. It touched my heart.

At night, someone made a group message, ‘… what is the difference between FAITH and destiny?’ Ha? I asked myself.. FAITH? As in Faith to God? Then I tried texting her saying that it was wrong spelling. I was about to send but a dialog said, ‘Check Operator Services.’ Wahhh.. After a minute or two, she texted saying sorry for the word. Anyway, our class laughed in the next morning.. we all, and you know, that’s the life in our in class.

Right now, may I ask you, how do you differentiate fate and destiny? What about faith? Let’s use the definition of fate and destiny from my classmate.

‘Fate is something that you are not responsible of, there is an entity [God] who pursues that for you. Destiny is something you are working on and something that the entity [God] tries to help you with.’

1.       How do fate works? –  Fate is something that has been made for you. You did not do anything with. God made it for you. Like your family. You did not work for having them.

2.       How do destiny works? –  Destiny is the other side but not opposite. It such that it just requires a cooperation between you and God. You will be successful. You will own a car. You will have a great career. You can have them once you do the 50% of the job and let God do the remaining. In connection with fate and destiny, where is faith?

Faith is the response to the two. Now fate is like this.. for instance, your family, once you value them and treasure them as God does and believe that they are a gift from Him and that you want them to be always protected and blessed.. you gotta move in faith now! Have faith in God that He will show His love to your family.

Destiny is where you do things, and reach things with the help of God. It’s a collaborative work. I want to become a writer so I practice myself right now and allow God to prepare my heart. I always trust Him, and have a faith that as long as we’re working together. Everything will  turn out to good.

Respond to fate:  Have faith in God that His plans for you are good.

Respond to destiny: Have faith to God that He will always be with you.

Things won’t be put up in the right place without our faith in God. Everything that has been happening to you is a product of your faith. You can be faithful to God or to this world. You will know them by their fruits. Does it make God happy? Does it make other people happy? Or does it only makes you happy?

Faith is the driving force of FATE and DESTINY.
