As the nation recovers from the disaster brought about by the recent typhoons, another disaster has astounded the nation as a 7.2 earthquake magnitude struck Cebu yesterday. The earthquake has cost so much as infrastructures and historical sites were destroyed and death toll rose to about 107 as of 10 a.m. today (NDRRMC).
We hardly imagine how the people felt during the earthquake and the cry of those who did not make it and those they left — we sympathize. But it is not enough that we only sympathize, we must pray. This tragedy calls us to be united in prayer. We cannot just sit back and wait. Disasters come and go but our prayer should be constant. It should not end when the disaster ends but it should become stronger.
Let’s not wait for another disaster before we cry out to God.
“You never know God is all you need until God is all you have.” – Rick Warren
God is all we need. We need Him every day and there’s no way we can save ourselves from anything beyond our strength. Earthquake is powerful but God is more powerful. If we make the decision today to seek God and pray, we would find strength as with a shield.
